 I was out shooting photos for the rhythm and free study challenges. This is at 5:50am, along the river front. I was just messing around.

I love the way the stars show up behind the tree. I was delighted that the lights behind me were enough for lighting the tree but not obscure the sky.

I really enjoy getting out early, riding my motorcycle in the predawn, taking photos. This morning was just a fun time.

The red hue is from the ambient city light, which was behind me, and from the predawn light of the sun, shining from below the horizon. I have "discovered" that if I take a "night" photo of the stars at around 5am or 6am, the sun (which is below the horizon) is reflecting off the atmosphere and the horizon will appear purple or red, not that deep blue of a night sky.

I desaturated the reds at -40.

Great colors in the sky and I love how the starts pop out. It must have been a great time to ride and take pictures. The clouds on the right side look like the tree's shadow - giving it even more of a surreal effect.

Just read the comments - looks like I wasn't the only one to notice the "shadow"!

Whoa, Bud, that's awesome. Beautiful light both above and below. Oddly enough, I had the momentary impression that this was a staged set, and that the clouds were shadows from the tree on a backdrop.

Great shot, the clarity of the stars is amazing along with the stunning lilac/purple hues of the early morning sky. the fence gives a really strong leading line (I cant decide whether I like the fact that the shot includes some of the ground as well, in one way it is a bit distracting, but in another it really helps contextualise the shot)

The spread of the trees is wonderful to look at

The shades in the sky are gorgeous. I love the stars as well - thanks for including your shutter time - I need to try something like this. I never seem to be able to capture stars. And like Roz said - the clouds make it look like the shadow of the trees - very cool!

i love the way the clouds make it look like the trees are making a shadow in the sky .. it gives this a nearly 3D look .. the stars are awesome and so sharp ... the colours are beautiful .. great shot ... hope you got something excellent for the rhythm challenge ??..:)..
