I live in a three story townhouse, which I have to be honest and say is Uuuugly from the outside (but lovely on the inside)

If you were standing on the third floor looking out from the landing window near Daisy's bedroom this is what you would see - of course if you turned round you would see me charging at you going 'who the hell are you and what are you doing in my house!!!' (Not that you wouldnt be welcome but I would prefer it if you let me know you were coming) - The vast majority of the houses on my street are two story and there is a real nice mix of people who live on it, although after 10 years here I do still feel very much like the new boy. In the distance you can see the Church of St Mary and St Giles which is on the High Street and which is beautiful

There are many stories to tell about Stony Stratford and which has quite a historic significance but I shall save these for times when i have suitable illustrations

For now all I will point out is that a few years ago you wou not have seen any satellite dishes or TV aerials in this shot. During the devlopment of Milton Keynes (of which Stony is part) it was decided to future proof the city by laying cable to every house that was built and also to those that already existed. If you wanted an aerial or a dish visible then you needed to obtain special planning permission.

Sadly the cable that was laid was analogue rather than digital so it appears we werent completely future proofed after all, the rules have been relaxed and these now proliferate

What a view! I love the castle building in the background. This is very different looking from anything you would see around here. Don't worry, if I decide I have to see this view in person, I'll call first, haha.

Looks like it has quite a bit of character around there... A place I'd love to explore.

As you can tell by all the comments, we love it. It looks very British to me and lovely in its green, lush, interesting lines kind of way. Great story to go with it!

Really good composition with the lines leading all over the place. I didn't even notice the dish until I read your comments - nice writeup.

I so love the repeating lines of the peaked roofs in this shot! It is then augmented by the repeating receding lines of the red brick chimneys. I never realized roofs could be so interesting, but this image is fantastic!

I love this shot -- so different from anything we have in So Cal. The church steeple tops things off beautifully. If the sun comes out for a few minutes and you get a blue sky, can you catch another shot? The church steeple is the perfect topping for this. Nice work.

Unusual perspective here, and very appealing to look at.....

just love this shot .. love your write-up too OF COURSE !! .. you have a totally excellent brain .. anyway back to commenting on this fantastic photograph .. love the view .. i actually lived in london in another lifetime .. ie quite a few years ago .. this photograph brings back memories of that time .. hazy memories, but memories none the less ..... i love the two birds in that white sky .. another excellent element .. the tile things on the roofs have a great texture .. it looks so cold and dreary .. ali said in the three weeks she'd been in the british isles (is that the terminology?) that it had rained every day except for two of them ... spose the positive of that is you'd totally enjoy the 'good' weather and not take it for granted like we can do here in australia .. its not that 'good' right now tho .. if i went outside i'd be having trouble typing when i came in because of numb fingers.. !!!!!!! .. as you know !!!:)
edit i posted this and had another look .. it could actually be three birds !!

Lovely on the inside...interior decorating too? :) My family would love to live there...But alas, we are stuck in the charming town of Los Angeles.

That is so "quaint" though I'm afraid that word isn't quite as flattering as I am intending it to be.

It's a very charming scene, even with the satellite dishes. All the repeating rooftoops and chimneys with the one distant church tower work great together.

What a really cool view from that window. I love the church in the background. All the houses must be brick as well? That and stone add such a classic look. It is a shame that the satellite dishes are there, but that seems so commonplace any more, I doubt anyone would really think about it unless it were pointed out to them. This is cool - it's a great perspective for those of us who have never been to England.

Wonderful texture and contrasting lines. I've never seen so many little satellite dishes or tv aerials (?-I'm assuming that's what's popping up all around up there?) like that. Quite an intriguing image, as I'm left wondering what the rest of the area looks like....

Very nice textures in this roof top and a wonderful view. I bet if you took this same photo on a day with blue skies, you would have a stunning photo.
