 Day 17, Floral Day

I was looking forward to shooting the sunflowers at school today, but when I got there they were a bit worse for wear due to all the rain over the weekend (typhoon-related). Then I saw some other yellow flowers by the fence, but they weren't in such good condition either, but these purple flowers were next to them.
The stamens are very long, and in a matter of days the petals will unfurl and release the stamens. I've never seen such a flower before. As the plant grows taller, it produces more flowers at the top.
I did a bit more unsharp mask than usual.

omg STOP with the excellent photographs !! .. i just came to post my day 17 and wasnt going to make any comments coz i'm so tired .. i've just made two coz i couldnt help myself .. cant help myself with this one either .. totally awesome !!!!!!!!! . the colours are amazing .. the composition like wow .. i thought at first it was like a duplicated image to create that sort'v mirror effect .. but after a second or so i realised it wasnt, its just the way it is .. i cant get over those colours, the purple and the green together .. natures abundance in beauty is evident right on this page .. :) ..
