my neighbours, warren and leonie, have alpacas and i went down to their place to photogaph them .. the alpacas, not the people !!! .. anyway they are minding this horse and their grandkids were there playing with her .. she was just racing around the paddock as if she knew that i was photographing her, looking absolutely gorgeous .. in this shot she was running flat out right towards me .. it was excellent .. shame about the rug tho, i would'v preferred her au naturale ..

the square crop does nothing for this image it is a lot better rectangular ..

I'm not one for horse shots, but this is really good. I like how the dirt is being thrown up behind her.
I agree about the blanket, but most horses I saw around Moss Vale were wearing them.

This is such a great shot! She does look as if she's showing off :) I can't believe you captured all 4 feet off the ground! & the dirt being kicked up into the air, so awesome!!

I think i have been told that it is better to photograph moving objects as they come towards you. This is spectacular Roz. Did you use that lucisart thing again ? (I did send back a PM) The horse looks like it is ready to jump out of the frame. Beautiful!

Nice stop action, Roz - love the processing (of course). A horse in a sweater. And such an attractive blue. Really. People should stop and think about what kind of clothes they are going to put on their horse. She would have looked much better in a plaid, say. Or maybe a forest green.

Hey and if the photo looks better rectangular, just post it that way. The square crop is merely a suggestion - kind of like a red light, if you know what I mean. :op

I know what you mean about the rug, but asking a horse to 'loosen your top a little' would just be wrong

Great capture of power and exuberance. Love the fact that you have caught her with all four hooves raised and nice PP which really gives the creature additional pop

Nice job capturing the motion. Your processing makes it look like it will jump off the screen!

Lucky capture, with all four feet off the ground!

I think the blanket adds a bit of humor and interest. Maybe humor isn't what you would have preferred, but it doesn't undo the loveliness of the shot --- just adds another element, imo.

roz - really fine image - the sharpness of the horse and the softness of the coat really are complemented by the blur of the background in motion.

Good stop-action with just the right amount of action blur.
