 My original idea was to weld the chain and then cut out one of the links. My slightly better second idea, was the one I went with to use some thin thread and then clone it out.
I thought I may have been pushing the "advance editing" rules so I asked the general question on the forum and then submitted to the SC. L2 confirmed I was within the rules, so thanks Laurie for that.
I did try the welding way as well, that really didn't go well ;-)
