This was such a therapeutic photo shoot for me! I lost my dad on Tuesday night, and I didn't feel like doing much of ANYTHING. . .least not taking pictures. My whole family got together at my sister's house yesterday to nail down the final arrangements for my dad's funeral.

My sweet (not to mention gorgeous) friend Summer was there, and her beauty. . .as well as my vague remembrance that we had a natural light portrait challenge going on made me want to pick up my camera again. We escaped poolside, and we came up with so many pretty pictures, I had a hard time picking which one to use -- but more than that -- it was the first time since my dad died that I had a wave of peace wash over me that life would in fact return to normal, and there would be better days ahead :) It's not the first time photography has lifted my spirits, but this was probably the first time it tangibly lifted me out of despair.

Thanks, Summer!!!

of course, i agree with every one when they say that sandy is absolutely amazing! she makes me feel pretty when i usually don't. so if you can take a picture of someone and make them look at their self in a different light...well my friends, thats good photography-

Don't you just hate those 5.9++ scores, LOL? I think this is a gorgeous portrait. Summer looks like a professional model - she is one stunning young woman! And of course with your skills you bring out the best. I love how it looks like you have catchlights in her hair even though it is a natural light portrait. Beautiful as always.

(( Big Sandy Hug )) Meant to do that before Sandy when I heard - I got too busy it seems :(

Can Summer come over here next? I don't have a pool though.
Funny, when I just scrolled down on this, cutting off the top part of the pic where here hair parts in different directions, made a big difference i the crop and how it looks overall, and rather like it tighter cropped. pay me no mind though - I'm odd when it comes to cropping.

I do like the expression you captured here. The colors and pose are just great!

this is nice sandy, i would not have picked it for one of your shots...it seems to be a bit out of the box for you, not wildly so but just a tad bit, and thats a good thing

Good pose, like the blues. The lighting is a little flat for me, and the whole thing could perhaps have more impact - maybe cropped tighter?

I usually like sultry women (perhaps a bit too much for my own good I must confess), but she is almost too sultry. Good shot though, made me look twice (all right.....3 times)

Nice expression in the face of the model in this portrait! Don't overly care for the background but I guess it's the pool/water background so it fits.
