This morning did not start well. After a broken nights sleep (first got to bed at 1am, and woke up 4 times during the night) I managed to sleep through my alarm, so instead of a leisurely stroll to catch the 6:23 train, there was a mad, half asleep stumble to make it for the 7:23. (This brings up the advantage of working in a small team though... none of them are going to flip out at me, and once I actually get in to work it doesn't really matter if I'm an hour late occasionally) So there I am, hat crammed on my head.. still a good three quarters asleep, feeling not in absolutely the best humour ever... and God decides he really likes me this morning....
These all happen simultaneously, I turn the corner onto Martelarenplein (the square in front of the station) and the sun breaks out, striking the brim of my hat, and giving it that wonderful golden fringe, My iPod finishes one track and starts to play Walking on sunshine by Katrina and the waves (For all of you too young to know this track, go and find it now... I'll wait.... it's the *perfect* happy track, never fails to put a smile on my face) as if all this is not enough, two extremely attractive ladies go jogging past, and grace me with a lovely smile. I think I may go and buy a lottery ticket ;)
This may not sound like much in the grand scheme of things.. but if nothing else, it proves to me that the word synchronicity was invented for a reason.
This bit of the entry is actually being written on the train and I have no idea what todays shot is going to be at this point, but I just wanted to share with you all the absolute turnaround that has been my morning so far. oh.. and as I write this, the trusty iPod has just come up with Joss Stone, and Super Duper Love.. outstanding :)
Took a bunch of shots at lunchtime today, and am still not sure which to use. This is the one I decided to go with in the end. cropped, and bumped the saturation a tiny bit, otherwise, as shot
So sweet! Love the coming together of elements - like the gods and goddesses were smiling upon you. Yay! Makes me feel better just reading your story. Nice photo, too. Our hydrants here are yellow. I'm really in favor of the red hydrant.
i loved reading your story and great how your day totally turned around .. totally agree that 'walking on sunshine' is such a fantastic happy track ... great shot of the dogs best friend, is it a fire hydrant? ... it looks like it could've gone well in the personification challenge .. :):)
Fire hydrants up close and personal are never too high on my fav list, but you did a great job with it. What's better though? Your blog, totally worth the price of admission! A lovely day indeed (although, I can think of something better than a couple girls jogging my way ; ) )
