Today was the finals for the Mud Bog at the park. Essentially it's drive your vehicle as far as you can in a mud pit. Lots of mud, loud noise, beer, and sun.

I watched a few do it and it was interesting but just not my thing. These people were really into it though. They were whooping, cheering, and having a blast. I chose this picture over others that were much better because this woman was not the only one raising her arms as the vehicle crossed the pit.

This all makes sense if you think about it. I used to regularly brew beer, go to beer festivals, plan driving vacations around brewpubs, etc. Now my thing is photography. Their thing is the mud pit.

Looks like they had a bunch of fun. I agree, the raised arm definitely gives the shot some action and interest. I can hear the cheers and whistles.

I'm really surprised something like this has not happened here yet. To me this is a good slice of life photo because it provides insight to a cultural "festivity". Good idea for this challenge!

Haha, this is awesome. I thought at first it was a photo of some sort of protest & all the people were sitting on the hill & proteseting until the construction of a Wal-Mart ceased.

My husband drove in destruction derbies for fifteen years. The line between a destruction derby and a mud bog is pretty slim. So to me, at least, you don't need to apologize for this picture. :)

Whenever it rains, you can always see where some guy drove his 4x4 thru the mud on the side of the road. I must admit, it's kinda fun to go muddin' every now and then (and by now and then, I mean once or twice a decade). But it is fun.

I agree, it looks like something that would be fun on occasion, but I don't know that I could get into it regularly. Of course, rednecks around here do this after every rain, competition or no.

Looks... interesting. I also could not get into this type of thing, but I find it fascinating to watch the people and their reactions at these events.
