Foaming at the leaf - symptoms of the Hellyan infection.

I don't know what the white stuff is, but it's on lots of weeds and some plants around the yard. I am guessing it's some sort of toxin emitted by the invading Hellyans that when touched, puts the victim into a state of passive capitulation. ...but I could be wrong. In any case, we should do exactly what they say and submit to their commands---- what the - what am I saying??!

I just made me some mint iced tea. Yum. Never seen the foamy bug before.
I had heard of them though. Very intriging.

I burst out laughing when I read your title.
Most likely spittle bugs. Don't really know what else to say...

Either that or there are spittle bugs on the leaves...but you're probably right about the hellyans, them invading and all.....seems like there is evidence everywhere! 8D

Quit spitting on the foliage...unless of course it is on fire.

Actually my 7 year old learned at school what that white foam is. There's a bug of some sort (its white he thinks) that makes that foamy spit stuff as its home to hide from predators. Get a toothpick and move the spit stuff out of the way to see if he's right. Or its a toxin made by the hellyans and we should submit to their demands.

ewww what is that stuff? are you up to something in the garden no one should know about?

I think the way you caught the leaf edges is great! the lttle ups & downs of the leaf's waves & textures- I can almost smell it...

excellent by the way in a glass of lemonade, and makes a wonderful breath freshener too. the chocolate mint variety is totally DELISH to smell & eat!

I would feel sorry for the mint, only it's mint, which is in reality a vicious weed trying to take over the world, so if it loses to the Hellyans I say, "Go, Hellyans!!!" I wonder if they're interested in, say, bindweed, so I don't have to keep ripping it out of the ground every week. A nice quiet infection ... do thay take bribes?
