Today we went to help a friend of ours. She has a rental property, and the tenants had been giving her trouble. Latest antics: trashing the place, vandalizing a bunch of her belongings, and throwing bleach everywhere in the rental, including on this mirror.

The person in the background is my husband, standing on the porch waiting for the sheriff's deputy who was on the way. All very exciting for the kids, who thought they were inside a Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys collaboration. We were just glad to get the mess cleaned up, get a report taken by the sheriff's department, and come home.

I really feel for your friend. If the rest of the place looks as bad as this mirror, she's got a tough time ahead of her. I certainly hope the people who did it don't get away with it.

Great image, though.

Renting property seems to be a big thing here where I live and I hear the same kinds of stories - people who will do anything to get out of paying what they owe, and then trashing the place to boot. There is so much disrespect and lack of accountability in this world.

That said, I will echo what has already been stated here - this is an amazing photo! Using the mirror to capture the backstory and the vandalism is just some incredible storytelling. Very nice job!

Very unfortunate for your friend, but what a fortuitous find for you... this is such an interesting and unusual image, and I mean that in the best way!

People amaze me with what they do. The thumbnail grabbed me and I really like the picture. Well done.

This is disgusting...Peoples lack of repsect for others and their property is a major peeve of mine. ALthough if you are looking for a silver lining the way they splashed the mirror did at least give you a great photo op. Very well taken and attractive in a way (though I am glad I did not have to clean it up

I was really interested as to what this was, great story (well, not great what happened). I like that you can't make out the guy (your husband), and it's just a black figure, it gives it a eerie sense.

Though the circumstance is disturbing, the photo is awesome. Love the whole processing, and the frame, too.

That's sad that people would do that sort of thing to someone else's property. It's kinda stupid too. It's not like she doesn't have all their information and such.

What an eventful day! I really like the photo! It is one of those uncommon angles missed :) Makes me look hard to see what is going on :)

It took me a bit to realize the image was OF the mirror. It looked like someone had just gone hog wild with some paint and trashed everything in the room. Quite a great image, just sad you had the chance to take it. That's too bad for your friend.

Crime Scene is right! I can never figure out how people get a kick out of destroying the property of others.

Good shot. I like the way the drips partially obscure the mirror and the figure standing at the left. I might try cropping out that dark object at the bottom, but that's just me.

I was not sure of what I was looking at but then your story. Together the picture and the story become very clear.

interesting. i would have had a hard time guessing what that was without reading it... at first i thought the roof was leaking. I'd almost like to see this in pure BW with more contrast.

Sorry about the trouble your friend had, but at least you got a great shot out of it. Absolutely love it
