Nothin' special, just a stack of some fireworks set off by the neighbors. Earlier in the day we were dreading this; it is very hot, dry and windy where we live in New Mexico, and the concept of launching fiery things over fields full of dry grass and weeds just doesn't compute. However at about 8:30 the winds whipped up, there was light dime-size hail, then a torrential downpour of rain for about 20 minutes. After that it continued to sprinkle for a couple of hours. So while we had to deal with the noise until about 1 AM (sheesh!), at least we didn't have to worry about the neighborhood burning down :-)

Happy (belated) 4th of July. I'm glad the rain preceeded the fireworks. I was in a neighborhood south of Chicago one July 4th where people were out in the streets shooting off guns to celebrate!

This IS special. Simply because it's not a perfectly pretty shot of 1.2 million dollars flying over the perfect bridge I really like this! Great job!

some years ago it was very dry here and somebody lit something that started a telephone pole on fire. It was quickly put, fortunately. Glad to see the rain came just in time.

thank goodness for the rain!! ... i cant imagine your anxiety levels if they'd let off those fireworks with dry grass and high winds .. you'd have to wonder wot they could be thinking ... :) ..

This is a great capture. You caught several going off at the same time, from different directions! I am glad that nothing burned down lol.

Haha, yeah, houses burning down is never a good thing. I like you captured the houses along the bottom, it really gives a sense of your neighborhood.

We have neighbors like that as well. One of the guys somehow got TNT and would fire it every holiday possible. If my sister didn't turn the horses into the upper pastures, at least one would get spooked and tangled with the fence.

That was fortuitously timed. :)

I like this shot -- the houses in the foreground add interest and tell part of the story for you. :)

Always a worry. We have had some rain, so for the past few nights it has really been quiet. I expect that will change when Friday night rolls around.
