 The buds of an Aganpanthus, more commonly known as a Lily of the Nile.

Nearly straight out of the camera on this one.
Shot at 300mm focal length, no cropping.

In an odd way, this reminds me of fireworks being launched, so Happy 4th!

Actually I absolutely disagree ... I think the border is beautifully (and uniquely) done and works to perfection with the shot. Beatiful capture.

Flowers appear as blue flames against the black BG, I like the fact that they fall in front of the frame different approach. Very nice
