i feel the fire imagery is very strong on this. the potato itself might have benefited from some additional lighting so that it 'reads' more clearly as what it is. a flashlight perhaps. also if it was either a little more to the right or left in the frame, it would be a stronger composition :) .. 7. mag99

This is wonderful. The lighting is terrific and the shape of the flame is right on. Good work!

Great flames, not 100% keen on composition though I know it's not exactly like you can control the shapes the flames take on!

I like flame pictures and the colors you have captured are great. In my opinion the fraiming/composition is too tight and might benifit from the rule of thirds. One of my top ten picks this week.

Looks like you used flash, but a little more lighting on the potato would have been better. I like the positive space! (He He)

Aptly titled. :) Great flames!

This is a dramatic shot, but I personally feel it lacks something. The flames look great, but it's difficult to work out where the subject ends and the background begins. Perhaps some form of fill lighting on the subject would have enhanced the image. Sorry to sound so negative… Good luck…

You forgot the "e"

The fire is pretty, but the main subject is very unattractive.

Original...i like the moisture on the potato. Wish it were possible for it to be exposed better. 6 sjgleah

White light on the front of the potato detracts from the warmth of the fire.

Great capture of the flames. hope the odor didn't bother you too bad. :-) karmat

i LOVE the flames. How did you make them so soft looking? You can't really tell it's a potato that's burning though.

Whoa! Fire! Hope you didn't get burned doing this. I like the fire and the idea. The potato, however, doesn't look much like a potato now. It's actually rather unrecognizable without the title. I'm not sure what's in the bg, but it's a little distracting and I'd like more lighting in the fg to show the subject better (if it wouldnt detract from the fire too much). All in all, I like it but since the potato is supp to be the subject I think it should be more readily recognizable and stand out more. ~indigo997
