This idea came from Nikonian Ninja. His idea and shot blew me away when I first saw it and I wanted to attempt it. Don't think mine came nearly as good as his, but I tried. Messed around with the picture for about 2 hours. Finally got the result I wanted. Loved comic books, as you can tell from my recent Superman shot. Would have loved to do something with Silver Surfer but couldn't get anything together. Hope everyone enjoys the shot, and make sure you check out Ninja's shot linked here....

A lot of adjustments here:
Shot in Raw
Sharpened, Brightness +1.00
In JPG
Inverted color, Rotated 90 CW. Duplicate layer. Used Wind Filter 3 times. Created Layer Mask, Cleared up face, hands and body. Rotated 90 CCW. Brightness & Contrast. Slight Hue & Saturation. Use the Liquify effect, on the created streaks from the wind filter, to make flames off body. Used different sizes and pressures. Flatten image. Used smudge on flames to give a more realistic look on them. Dodged and Burned some areas on the flames. Neat Image on entire picture. Resized, Add Border, Sharpen, Save for Web.

I like the idea, and a nice inversion here. I think he should be in modelling if not already. I like the ice flames, though really cold vapours fall, not rise (know it all!)Very impressive idea - I am sure you will do well. All the best!

Love the colors on this. The blue on black is very striking. The focus seems very good and the lighting seems even. There is one piece of flame on the left shoulder that is a different color and sticks out a bit. Other then that grat photo.

I saw the thumb for this, and just was wondering about this and what I would vote it. It is really pushing the limit, but doesn't really give me a strong 'ice' feel. Looks more like blue fire. Even though the negative gives you the blue colour you wanted, I think it hampers the eyes and dark areas like mouth and nose. I would also picture ice to be a bit smoother.

This is great....I suppose if it were red, he could be "Fireman," as it appears more like flames to me coming off his body. Either way, it rocks! Take a '8' from me!
