Challenge: Transitions II (Basic Editing)
Collection: Self-portraits
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) for Nikon
Location: Basement
Date: Jun 12, 2007
Aperture: 8.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 20s (3 flashes)
Galleries: Humorous
Date Uploaded: Jun 12, 2007

I had a couple of nice shots, one each for Pure and Transitions, when I thought of redoing a triptych I did for the 30-day self-portrait project last September:

But of course, this had to be a single shot. I'd bought a piece of black cloth for a backdrop since then, which gave me the dark background.

I also now have three "flashes," because I own three cameras that have timers. Setting them to various delays allowed me to change positions between flashes.

The color comes from clear plastic notebook section separators: red on the left and yellow on the right.

And yes, I really did shave half my face. :) In fact, I went to bed that way and had to remember to shave the other half before I went to work!

Post-challenge: Well, it's clear people didn't like the different skin tones. Live and learn ...

I still think it was a darn clever idea and pretty well executed. :-)

Wow, Jeffrey! I am so impressed with your execution skills. This is really amazing!

Ahhhh - you should have gone to work that way!!!!
You missed out on some of the oddest looks you will ever get.
(trust me - I know - I get them all the time and I'm clean shaven too)

Wow, you're becoming quite the magician. Soon you'll be giving Scalvert a run for his money. I like the bearded guy best -- it highlights his marvelous eyes.

It is impossible for me to vote objectively on this photo, so I will skip it. Take that as you will... ;P

Nice play on composition. For my tastes with this type of scene I would prefer for evenness in colour tones, but as here still different tones for each. Good shot.

DUDE!! rofl

This is quirky but I kinda like it. I wish the tones of the faces on the left and right were the same. The one on the left is red, the one on the right more golden. Ok, I guess it works since you're going from one to the other. Talking out loud here. ;`D

7 for making me laugh. Also a 7 because if you really did do that you deserve it!

I like this image but 1) I would have preferred the bearded face to be on the side of the beard and 2) the skin tones are vastly different

is this a single image. i wonder because the lighting seems different for each view. anyway it does show transition but just not real appealing. looks like you had fun with it though.
