I think this might be even more dramatic if you had placed the camera closer to the water's surface.

If you used a fast shutter it would freeze motion, but would not show raw energy. If you used a very slow shutter it would be more of a soft billow, also not indicating raw energy. With a middle-speed shutter the motion and power can be seen. Unfortunately at first it looks like it's blurred, but the steady rocks show it's not.

Nice image, which I think may have been improved on by slowing the shutter speed to give the water a more silky smooth appearance. Try using a neutral density filter to allow you to use a slower shutter speed if the exposure was to high for your camera to deal with.
