This is a homeless person in Salt Lake City. I like to get out and shoot homeless people becuase they always have very interesting expressions, and their eyes and skin tell so many stories. I generally pay them a small amount, or offer to buy them a meal, so that we can help out each other. I wish I could have had more environment included in the photo, but I had only one lens on me at the time.
For editing, I adjusted the shadows, sharpened, increased contrast in the eyes via two curves layers, converted to black and white, and then added the original layer on top in color mode, increased saturation with a hue/sat adj layer, then added a blank layer on top and stamped the visible layers and changed the mode to overlay to increase saturation more. Adjusted the shadows some more, dodged and burned a bit, and then cropped and resized for the web, cloning out a small peice of newspaper in the lower portion of the photo. |
