A tour group is gathered around a kiva at Mesa Verde National Park's Cliff Palace. I liked the way they almost look like tilt-shift miniatures. Mesa Verde would be a fun place to shoot with a real tilt-shift, if I could afford one.

It's going to get slaughtered, both for not being a traditional invasive close-up candid of just a couple subjects and for using a Lensbaby. However, no one here is posing - they've been caught listening to a park ranger tell them all about the ceremonial uses of the kivas. I'm in this one more for the comments than anything else. I hope I get more than "blurry" and "DNMC", because those will be missing the point of having a bit of fun flirting with the boundaries of what's acceptable for both the challenge description and the tastes of DPC at large!

Well, I've viewed the thumb a few times and looked at the full size image for a (good) while and can only say that as the lilliput/model image I thought it was its a fun image then knowing what it really is then its stunning! I love it.

I think bear said it best, a battle of the brain with this optical illusion shot!

I feel as if we've stumbled upon Lilliput. Very surreal.

I was thinking minature and saw Bear's comment. The LB does add that look. Nice detail on the little people, and great color.

First of all, this was a very underrated photograph. And speaking of getting slaughtered, it looks like the group in the photo is getting ready for a sacrifice of some sort. Great shot. I always wanted to visit this place.

My goodness! It's funny how the "miniature" aspect of Lensbaby is involved in a perceptual contest with the figures: without the figures, this would be the full-tilit-boogie effect, but WITH the figures our brains start readjusting, and it comes out all pushme-pullyou, to borrow a Doolitleism... Luscious!

hurting their eyes is good for them - :-)

I love it!

I shot a chair for a still life or some such challenge with a lens baby - I love the shot still, but alack - I hurt their eyes! :-) LOL

lens baby, maybe? Definitely an interesting effect. i think it would be interesting to see some of their expressions, but that would be a totally different shot.

interesting, but just a little too far removed to capture any strong emotion.

I don't know how this came out like this but it's a bit disconcerting and almost hurts my eyes.

What an interesting image, in one way I wish I could see a little more of the people so I could see their individual expressions, but I guess zooming in in this way would have lost a lot of the fantastic location and so you probably made the right call. Great title that enhances and underscores a great shot

Nice composition and good colours - but I wouldn't call this a candid.

nice spot to use this technique. I would like to see a more personal touch ( faces, movement, expressions and such) in my candids though.
