Now that's a question I ask myself everyday. Though, not for the same reasons as these guys I'd imagine. Great strong tones and harsh reality makes this one to remember.

Is that guy on a cell phone? Terrific emotive response. As always good tonal work on your B&W photos.

Pretty decent score for a non-dpc photo. I love the mess here - the downed cone, the graffiti, the belly-scratching - I'd be wearing those expressions there too! (In fact, I think I did when I lived in the east village!) It's not in your face sympathetic like a dirty child, it's very documentary - there is no fantasy. No cropping of a depressing existence. No pretty dirt. Damn well done.

Sevil

I came to love your black and white candid shotes so much in the recent 30 day challenge but this almost tops them all. Lovely image and - as ever - your tones and contrasts are magnificent.

Love the fact that there appears to be a giant pencil on the left of the frame....What the heck is that about!!!! It adds a wonderful touch of surrealism to the shot

A great urban photograph and black and white suits it perfectly. Composition and exposure are perfect.

Maybe a better question would be "why stay?"

I think I would like it more if the object in the front was gone (a traffic cone maybe)

Nice street photography. You don't see that much here. Good luck.

Too much foreground and not enough background for me. I would like to see more of the wall behind them and less of the sidewalk. Good photo though.

I am not a good photographer, I do not claim to be better than anyone, any criticism is meant to be constructive criticism......

Such sour, realistic expressions. Nice gritty catch.
