He was hanging around my yard and wasn't running away, so I got as close as I could. He was a bit in shadow so I used my on-camera flash. I was amazed to see this smile when I opened the raw file. It really made me laugh. Hehe! But actually, I wasn't sure if he was smiling or giving me the middle claw! :D

Cropped, USM, adjusted tone levels, got rid of slight "red eye" from the flash, burned and dodged a bit, darkened some of the background slightly and adjusted the color to warm it some.

For two reasons this photo makes me smile. One, it looks like he is smiling at me. Two, At the same time he does look like he is flipping me off. I love the warm glow you have achieved in his fur and the nice crisp focus on his face. Another thing going for you is the compoisition and the DOF. The pale background makes him pop. Wonderful.

i hate squirrels, your light is not well controlled, the overall image is underexposed, details and clarity are very good

I like that there is nothing in the background, it really brings the big guy forward.

I hate squirrels (they've destroyed parts of my house and my kid's swingset) but this little guy is cute.

Looks like he's just chillin'. Great capture. The only nitpick I have is the bland background. I would have tried to do something with it either change the hue a bit or perhaps do a b/w conversion and give it more of that portrait feel to it.
