I was struck by the intensity of keeping up with the news that this 86 year old grand-grandmother displayed. Not even the camera would distract her.

This is a really nice photo. She seems a little dark, but still viewable. 8 Swash

The background suggests she's in some sort of institution...... I like the colors and focus - communicates "drabness", which suggests that reading the newspaper is all she has to look forward to.

I appreciate the image, and wish the windows and sky didn't subsume her. 5 sjgleah

This is an excellent picture. The angle is interesting, the windows wonderful, the lady intense. The mood is there/ The colors are exquisite. all shades of blues. the three blue chairs and her shirt matches the sky. The height jusdged by the buildings out the window. Her eyes focus on the newspaper and the viewers eyes follow hers. Perfect! Suggestions? None...or maybe edit out the glare on the left eyeglass?

This is such a pleasing photo. The soft light filling the room gives everything even amounts of light and nothing is overexposed. I like the blue tones present throughout the photo and the expansive dual background (the room wall/windows and the sky outside). Great photo.

Very well done! She looks like she's really concentrating on a story here. I may have considered cropping it just a little more tightly, bringing her in just a little closer. Still an 8, though!

Well done, good work. Iike all of this, maybe a bit more light, but I like it. Score 7 Justine.

Good shot. I like the serious face. I might have cropped it to have her face more in the top left corner. Just me. marcvg. =6

Great shot. It doesn't look posed and the picture has great atmosphere. Some voters may quote the thirds rule at this, but I'd say they were being pedantic. My only gripe would be that it's a little dark, but that's is so small issue and may even be related to monitor I'm using. Splendid effort (9)

Framing seems a little too central. Good subject, though, with good colour and contrast. 7 - floyd
