Darn freakin' challenge... I shot all sorts of stuff for this challenge - if you only knew! I've coined the term NCW for what I do - "nothing challenge-worthy". I had a lot of NCW stuff. This here be the last resort.

We had a nice thunderstorm come in overnight, which thankfully cooled things off a bit. Had a bit of early sunshine, sorta, through breaks in the clouds, so I rode out along the vineyards and took pictures. The original of this one is very dark - tried to avoid blowing out the sky (had several where I failed in that respect). Tonemapped the RAW image, opened in PS, and did all sorts of stuff to it. Levels, selective color, cropped, uncropped, recropped (it's a long story), sharpened more than once, resized, and I don't know what all else. Oh, a bit of dodging and burning for the practice - not a whole lot. Cloned out part of a rock. Added a slight gradient to the sky. Eventually chose a version and saved for web. All this for a probably 5.2. :-)

Well, you did better than you predicted! :) This kind of vista begs for bright saturation of colors and you delivered - very nice.

Oh, I love this photo, Deb. It brings back so many memories of living in Germany. We had a field exactly like this right behind our house on post where we lived. Very nostalgic for me. This could BE it!

Lovely bright colours, and the light and shadows work really well in the shot. I wouldn't say NCW, I'd be pretty happy if this was my shot :)

With so much going on in your life at present, you are allowed to become NCW, you beat your estimation, my experience working with leaves is always use a highlight/shadow, even if you don't use it, I have to go back about another 100 to find mine...

It's hard to tell what's being photographed. Not a lot of detail, pretty sky.

Very jagged image. All detail is really lost in the pixilization. Not sure how to clear it up. It just happens sometimes on images.

Looks a bit over sharpened ad the grape vines look as if they were painted. Overall I believe the picture is a bit bright.
