Hi Micheal

I hate guns and what they represent
But I do have to agree with you. Man is the vehicle and the gun the tool
The image is very sharp and crisp and well positioned
So I dont think you derserve such a bad score and it does fit the challenge I did not vote on this challenge (too busy)
but seeing your image I just had to let you know that while the topic is not pleasing. The photo itself is excellent in my opinion and should have beaten a lot of the shots taken in this challenge
Try and leave the gun out next time.
Regards
Sally

Damn! Watching my score plummet throughout the week, I was hoping to at least score last place since I was doing so poorly. But alas, I missed that coveted position by two places. :(

I really liked the shot, and never imagined it would do this poorly. Sure, it’s not a vehicle in the traditional sense, but in my opinion it still fits the challenge. I wanted to do a different and creative interpretation instead of shooting a car, truck, etc. like everyone else.

Yes, the title is necessary to help one see the meaning I intended, but does this alone negate the image as meeting the challenge? According to the definition of vehicle, both man and the guns are vehicles which transport things in relation to this challenge. The guns are vehicles which transport bullets to targets. Man pulls the trigger and thus is a vehicle which transports death/destruction to whatever the target is. So, by definition and challenge description man is a vehicle which transports a thing. I suppose I was trying to make a philosophical point with this photo as well. Man has in the past and continues to find new ways of annihilating one another. Man is a vehicle of violence and death.

I guess too many people wanted a wheel, foot, or motorized vehicle and anything that is outside of that pre-established construct of vehicle scored low because it had no relation to the challenge in their minds. Thank you to the few who saw this photos relevance to the challenge. Oh well! On the bright side, I guess it’s pretty much upward mobility from here, no?

Practice makes Perfect. Are the rifle and shotgun the vehicles to help the bad guy make the transition to the afterlife? I might have added a tad more saturation in the editing. The colors are sort of bland, but still a good picture.

A bit morbid but different, i have to respect that. Cropping this image and leaving the bullets box out as well as the cloth would have helped.

No relevance to challenge. 1

No way this meets the challenge, even with a rather lame attempt to make it seem like it with the title. This was about transport.

I don't look at guns as vehicle -1

Stretching it a bit? Nice enough shot.

The photo doesn't say anything to me about vehicles. Without the title, the concept of 'vehicle' is not present for me in any way.
12/17/2003 07:57:54 AM
yeah.... This is what we can call a third degree meaning!!

Sorry, I just don't see it.

Sorry, can't stretch this to meet the challenge, only realistic connection to vehicles is the word in the title. The challenge stated "Use this week's challenge to creatively capture a method of transport" and realistically this isn't. Remove the title, show the photo to 1000 people without giving a clue, would even one say "vehicle" or "transport" .... unlikely.
