 Taken the morning of May 10 at about 6:30 a.m. The lake was like a mirror when I looked outside and I thought it'd be fitting for the "silky-smooth challenge." Some may not see a lake as being "silky-smooth" but living on one, I see how it can be.

PP - converted to sepia. Sharpened slightly. Added just a big of contrast. That's it!

Greetings from the Critique Club.

Composition: I like the idea but I wonder if a landscape crop would have been kinder to this image and not chopped the image into three...ie..the trees & sky, the water above the chair, the water below the chair. It is good to work on thirds...but keep them blending together and not separate entities.

Technical: The colour is great...and the clarity of the chair and reflection. The horizon is probably straight but due to the shadowing over the water of the trees the eye keeps getting drawn to the uneven line that some would misconceive as the horizon level. Maybe a bit more light to show that area a bit more.

Overall: I think if you try a reshoot at the same time of the day and play around with the composition more...I think you will end up with a ribbon winner down the track.

Love the photo, but the harsh incoming lighting take me away from the "silkiness". I'd lower the camera closer to the water and make it more about the lake and the chair than the lighting...

...that being said, I like the photo very much! 8

I like this shot. The reflections add nice depth, the use of sepia all excellent. The only negative would be the burnout in the sky.
