 A carved wooden mask.

Lighting: A single slave flash 90 degrees camera left to provide raking light. Rotated subject so that the light just hits the right eye socket, to show the form.

Post processing: Converted from RAW. A little bit of spot editing to get rid of an area that I did not want to be lit. Black and white conversion, channel mixer with 50% red and 50% green. Levels to set the white point and curves for some more contrast.

B&W for me are the lights, shadows and texture and you nailed it. Great presentation on a simple subject.
