Arresting juxtaposition of youth and world-weariness. I wonder if the impact could be increased by pulling in tighter on the sides - cropping out the man on the right (so the rightmost girl's body acts as border on that side) and to the shoulder of the veteran on the left (to lose the profile of the foreground man and have the veteran's body act as border on that side). I'm just musing - I still think it's a great shot as is. |

love the juxtaposition of the older man reigning over the young giddy children. |

oh goodness...I just got the chills. This is an awesome capture that really speaks volumes! The children laughing and carrying on juxtaposed with the solemn veteran is very powerful. |

anzac day this was taken at the dawn service, i think i got up at around 4am too drive to the city. have never been before and it was an overwhelming experience.
30,000 silent people is something you don't see very often, this was taken after the service on the steps of the shrine of remembrance.
thanks for the comments i really like this style of photography and its something i want to work on. |

It's like two different moments in time.
I LOVE the interaction of the children, it's so wonderfully candid and how's the old guys steely glare?

Captured a nice scene that is full of various contradictions. Good processing, well focused, etc. I like it. |

a wonderful capture of the different faces ... their expressions, their different ages, how the old guy has his life etched on his face .. the flag adds an important element which gives me a another small picture of his life and a glimpse into anzac day .. the children with their joyful and happy faces yet to experience the gammut of pain that life can deliver .. hopefully in childhood that capacity for joy isnt beaten out'v them, coz its a necessary balance for the pain that is sure to come ... and i'm not being negative coz pain i reckon is just a necessary 'evil' for our growth ... wotever .... anyway, your photograph has brought about a huge emotive response in me which makes this something exceptional ... i especially like how the old guy is looking straight at the camera .. also that the image is a bit dark, but the stars are very white, which is a great contrast, and therefore very noticeable ...

i like how there are 6 stars on the flag and six people underneath it.

Terrific juxtaposition between the giggling girls and the stoic guy holding the flag. I like that hint of green in the duotone. Nice candid. What is anzac day? |
