This is the Rio Grande which runs from Colorado through New Mexico then along the Mexico/Texas border. No matter where or when I've seen it in NM, it always has been muddy like this. I saw the car of the person I suppose belonged to the chair, but never saw the person.
Triptych consists of two images (top and bottom left are one, bottom right the other).

RAW images each taken into Nikon Capture NX where -2, -1, 0, +1 and +2 ev 16 bit tiffs created
Tiffs converted to HDR and tonemapped in Photomatix

Neat Image noise reduction on both images
Tonality of two images matched using selective color and color balance
Cloned out errant tree branch
Cloned out distracting shiny bit on chair
Images resized and cropped to fit into layout
Lucis Arts 'Exposure' filter added as new layer at 26%
Hue/saturation adjustment layer
Levels adjustment layer
Layer in blend mode 'soft light' with black and white painting to darken/lighten selective areas
Selective dodging, burning and saturation
Add borders, add background
Resize
Unsharp mask
Save for web
Hmmm... think that's about it

i like this, but to me the chair is a little distracting. i think you could have gone either way, so you may have made the right choice, but I think I would like to see it without.
