A most excellent closeup. Love it :)
This maybe stretching it for thirds though because I see it's whole face as the subject even though the eyes are on the thirds. Tough one to vote on hmmm. I'm uncertain so I'll skip voting on this one but wanted to let you know I really like this.

saw a similar shot in the free study -- this color one is a bit better (IMHO) -- the eyes are penitrating -- one of my ribbon picks

not sure it fits the challenge. It is a close crop and centered. I love this photo

This is great... You've managed to combine a lot of "composition rules" here: Symmetry, rules of thirds, diagonal, centered. triangular, circular - and maybe even more than those. And, your processing is perfect: Light, colors and details are just great.

9 for now... (and it's been a while since I voted a 9 in any challenge).

Well not going to hassle you with the standard rule of thirds, there is so much more to that "rule" than just the intersection points that people are so obsessed with. However, this is shot hardly made me think of the rule but instead that you kindof shoehorned this into the challenge but not moving any points around because of it. This shot is technically very well done and got a 7 from me, needs some extra "pow" for me to give a higher rating than that, like some action going on.

I guess it's the eyes, right? Beautiful portrait of a regal animal.

its kind of a centered portrait rather than divided in 3rds - a nice shot nonetheless ...

A very powerful image. The eyes are fantastic. A tiny bit more DOF to get his nose sharp and he would be perfect. = 8

Really beautiful portrait. Nice detail, color and cropping. Although I don't think that it meets this challenge, I will give it a 9 because I like it.

Breaking the Rule by following the Rule by bending the Rule... Nice shot, but...

Wow! Have you intentionally ignored the challenge theme? This is completely dead center.

Rule of thirds?
04/25/2007 12:59:49 AM
it is perfectly centered! isn't that the antithesis of the rule of thirds?
