The way this is framed it looks like an old time movie! I can hear the tinny piano music playing. Scroll up and down to watch the sequence. one way he gets happier, the other way sadder. The three images give a great sense of how animated the kid is and also how fast they grow and change.

PS - please tell us that isnt a snake.

I saw this picture a few days ago and I keep thinking about it...your son is very cute and I love his expressions on demand ability.

What a cutie :) Those expressions are gold. You've used window light (with a bit of fill on the left there?) much to your advantage here and I feel as though I'm there, peeking up over the table at him. Playing peek-a-boo to try and garner a smile perhaps? Nice work. But Tim, I gotta be honest, I don't like the vertical arrangement, particularly with so much of the table-side showing. Thick black bars that steal the show. Not sure if it's just an optical illusion, but it looks like three different thicknesses also. Sorry to go on about that aspect, but for me, it's pretty hard to ignore, and that's a shame :(

Um, is that a snake???

A really fun sequence to look at.

I think that there's too much of the table in the shot, and that leaving just up to where it starts turning dark would be enough to give depth and context. On the other hand, the wide band of the table serves as a separator between the frames, but I still don't care for it.

A cute series of pictures, no more, but also no less.

You are so fired. How dare you include so much clutter in the frame? DPC has no place for you.

Clutter competes with the subject! But clutter also creates context. In this case, it adds a welcome sense of the mundane, the real. These looks, after all, are funnier in the kitchen than, for example, the white netherworld in which so many of idnic's portraits are taken. One can't help but think there's some story like Sandy's going on... and that is a possible way you can go further with this... have him interacting with food in some way or have the panels tell some other story like a comic strip.

You certainly do a good job of making his head "pop" with DOF. and even without a story I like the progression here. The middle face is such a great transition. Some kind of realization is going on that will naturally lead from one emotional state to another. And his expressions are remarkably genuine-looking, considering how extreme they are. You've got quite a little actor on your hands!

THAT is AWESOME!!!! What a clever, creative photo!!! I love how you have composed this!

I have a series of photos like this from when my son was waiting and waiting to get to eat a Valentine cake I made once when he was little. He was so excited to get to finally eat some so I was taking his picture -- but something went terribly amuk when I was cooking and I left out something or got a wrong ingredient, and by the time he took his 2nd bite, he looked just like your bottom face. . .only sicker. This reminds me so much of that memory :) I love it!
