This Maneki Neko was lying around the house so I though I'd get some use out of it.

I don't know the exact history of the Maneki Neko. All know that it's said to bring success (money).

Another last minute submission. I wish I had started earlier as I found it difficult to get the right lighting on such a glossy subject. The lighting wasn't the hard part really, it was not getting a reflection/glare from the light source. I also tried abstract views, but felt a non-centralized and more straight on approach would make the subject more recognizable. Overall I'm pretty happy with how the lighting turned out, not too much glare to ruin the photo in my opinion.

Nice positioning and exposure albeit with a few hotspots.

I like this one, it's like you don't know quite what you are getting into because of the darkness and the fact that the cat looks like a fragile piggy bank says that it's unstable. I like the fact that it is a cat, their such sophisticated clever animals.

Is that Pat Morita from Karate Kid?

Nice black and white. I just purchased one of these for my mothers holiday present for her cash register. I like the composition alot. The use of mininmal light also works well, I think. 9

Technical: Fits the challenge. Exposure good, composition too left heavy for my taste, focus good, lighting too harsh for me.

Personal: Banks (bricks and mortar, piggy, and all other types) seem an obvious choice for this challenge. The lines between overdone, perfect fit, and too "out there" are really fuzzy in a lot of cases. I like the shot but I don't go "wow".
