Concept originally intended for the vanished vanishing trick challenge. Making full use of the expert ruleset here. Concept inspired by this shot on worth1000: //www.worth1000.com/entries/25000/25465.jpg

It is a montage of the three separately processed images:

Getting the empty wineglass was the hardest part by far. Had to resort to switching to LAB colour and doing modifications of the lightness channel alone, then switching back to RGB and selectively darkening only the shadows on the blue and green channels in order to get rid of some glassy reflections. In the 640-sized file you can hardly make it out, but the original had to be scaled down to get 150dpi at 40"x30".

What a fun shot! Technically superior, with just the right amount of whimsy. Very nice job.

Lots of fun and humor in this shot! I really like the "floating" lollypop...it's weird in a a good way. I find the lack of detail in the center of the ice distracting, just a bit too blown out. The necklace also draws undue attention especially because it merges with the form of the wine glass. Limited color pallet is spot on, though, and the facial expression carries the theme well.

well done indeed! a super shot, and wonderful editing. i think the wine needs to be a tiny bit lighter, as it's hard to see that there's no glass at first.

I would have given it a 10....but then again I did give every photo in that challenge a 10 because I was pissed off that I didn't get a chance to enter my shot!

Seriously, though, this is an excellent shot. I didn't take advantage of the expert editing rules but you did and did it well. I was literal in my interpretation of the challenge and did not include any extra items, just the 4 that were mentioned. Kudos to you for thinking outside the box.

This is very nicely done and would have scored high in the challenge. I am sorry that you did not get to enter, but you still have a fine photo for your portfolio.
