Post Challenge:

I thought this would do better than it did. :( Thanks to all for the great comments.

This eagle was perched in a tree near my home. I focused on him and waited for him to take off. When he did, he flew down to about 10 feet off the ground and was about 20 feet directly in front of me. I was thrilled with my capture. Hopefully people won't get tired of my eagle shots. I think they are magnificent birds.

The detail in his talons and tail feathers is amazing. GREAT capture. Birds in flight are tough, in my opinion - looks like you've got the hang of it!

I am so disappointed that this photo didn't get the top recognition it deserves! I think you got robbed! I still look at it in awe as I realize what you accomplished in getting such detail in a moving EAGLE!!! This is an outstanding photo and one of my highest scoring photos in the whole challenge!

Cecilia, this is a lovely photo - boy you were close to him, weren't you! His head is tack-sharp. I think you ought to have broken the 6 mark, but FS voters are often fickle. Great entry!

Very nice capture. If this were a tad sharper, it would have been way over 6.

I like the photo, but the wings being cut off is a distraction

Oh wow! I HOPE I'm not disappointed to find this one with anything but a TRULY kick-butt score in the end! I spent some time this week trying to capture birds in flight, so I totally appreciate how difficult it is. But this one, where you can see midtones in the eyes, and detail in the featheres! I am in awe. This is National Geographic, or Outdoor Photographer material for sure. Congratulations on a breathtaking capture -- regardless of the score, although I'm sure yours is great!

Right then, joke's on me as I now have to plough through 564 images and bump them all (yes, all of them) up. There'll be a third run through for fine tuning. It's day two three now and I'm running late, sorry.

Great picture, would be better with all the wings in there. Don't think the title helps. 6
