Not sure how some of you will look at this photo. But the truth is he is the one thing I am very thankful for. Everytime I look at him I know how lucky I am to be alive today. That little boy even before he was born had saved his mother's life. I'm very thankful for such a wonderful gift as he is.

Greetings from the Critique Club :)

Hi Anna...

I'm not really sure where to start on a critique. You definitely meet the challenge. There's no doubt about that. Your son is obviously very cooperative when it comes to posing for your work :)

I think I may have discovered a tidbit today that may offer you something to think about. I read LensWork magazine cover to cover with the release of each new issue. I find a lot of creative inspiration within it's pages. This month, the editor wrote a short article about things he has learned during his 34 year career. This particular jewel was actually credited to another photographer:

"It is easy to make a photo of someone and call it a portrait. The difficulty lies in making a picture than makes the viewer care about a stranger."

When you think about what this says, it does definitely offer some opportunity when it comes to doing portraits that will be offered for viewing to the general public. This photo is cute for sure. How can you make it draw emotion from someone who doesn't know the subject? If you find an answer, please share with me :) It's a tough one...

Beyond the humourous expression there is little of interest here for me. I totally understand your devotion and gratitude, therefore fitting the challenge, but for me it needs to be a more interesting shot.

The flash lighting is flat, causing unwanted shadow and the colours are a bit washed out.

It's not a bad portrait, it captures the silliness that your title suggests. No shadows on the face, although slightly soft, the lighting is ok.

Out of focus and an awful frame. Good pose on the kid though.
