One of my mother-in-law's orchids lit from above by mother nature on an overcast day through the glass roof of their dining room / conservatory with a black fabric backdrop. Three copies of the same capture set to -1, 0 and +1 EV merged to HDR ... Levels, Curves, Saturation bump, Crop, USM (just a touch), Frame, Resize.

Focal Length: 139 mm (Macro focus)
Aperture: F 4.44
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed: 1/39 second

Erm ... btw ... I never said this before ... but! ... This orchid PLANT had never an intention to die in a few days ... It has survived in situ at my mother-in-law's house for about 6 years, I think ...

Contrary to the recipient, I find the flowers and lighting exquisite; more dramatic lighting could easily override the petals' delicacy.
