These toads are not actually mating. This was a male and female toad in migration season trying to get to the breeding ground (which I assume is the massive lake not far away from my house.) There are at this time of the year loads of them crawling around on the roads and paths. Here is a little excert form the BBC nature website about what these toads are up to.
"Although males usually wait for females at breeding sites, they will sometimes try to ambush them before they reach the water. Males clamber onto the backs of females and hold onto them tightly (a posture known as amplexus), the nuptial pads on their fingers providing extra grip. Over-eager males sometimes grab another male, but the captured male̢۪s croak soon informs them of their mistake." |

Right then, joke's on me as I now have to plough through 564 images and bump them all (yes, all of them) up. There'll be a third run through for fine tuning. It's day two now and I'm running late, sorry.
