Last minute idea while I was cooking dinner.
The aroma from the pot was delicious..... close to what I wanted but I was more interested in not burning dinner!
I intentionally added some noise to give it a bit more of a mood.... I tried it in duotone but that didn't quite cut it either.

I ike the composition very much and even with the blownout highlights on the pot cover and wine bottle label, I find the exposure very good. I even like the grain/grit feel to this image. Only thing I find distracting is the bright circles near the hand and on the bottle in the background.

I like what you are trying to do here but it's very grainy and in this instance I don't think it really helps. Love the reflection in the lid!

Good shot, but MAN the grain... Was it intentional?

I really don't care for the grainy look of this. It also took me a few moments to get the point, probably because there's so much emphasis on the pot lid, even though the reflection is a really interesting way to show the contents. Ultimately I think that means the image may be a little busy. Maybe if the pot was only shown in the reflection, and not directly at all?

I've pondered this shot for a couple of minutes now, trying to decide if I like the grain or not. I've decided I really like it. Its different, and I think it adds to the sense of the shot. I feel like I'm smelling the warm of whatever is reflected in that lid, and I love the lighting on the face of the cook. Its just beautiful.

I like it. This is one that I had to look at for a while to "get". But now it makes me smile. I don't know if I like it this grainy but I like the lighting and composition. The reflection in the lid is a really nice touch. This is one of the best cooking images I've seen on this site or elsewhere. Now that I've stayed a while, I can say I really don't like that much grain.

Good attempt. Perhaps a bit more reflected light could have assisted. The little lens flare is distracting though.

I like this image. The reflection in the lid really makes it work. Very nice lighting. The highlight in tha beckground tends to be a little distracting, though.

I really like the composition of this image. Love the effect of the reflection on the pan lid and the positioning of the nose. It's a shame that there appears to be quite alot of noise in the image, although for alI I know this could be due to camera limitations. 6

I didn't really like the grain in the image, but I do like the composition. Man smelling is believeable.

Great use of high grain - was it deliberate? I like it, regardless.
Love the tight crop - it's often said one should include the subject's eyes but this crop just works so well without them.

Looks grainy but a nice set-up, especially with the reflection in the pan lid.

A tremendous amount of noise in this one, and whatever is in that pot looks a bit spooky.. But the reflection is cool, and overal it's all good! (7)

Wonderful idea, composition and DOF, I like the face in the corner very much, and I also like that you partly show it: only the mouth and the nose. The reflection adds a nice visual element to the shot. But why didn't you use noise reduction? I would simply love the shot without the noise, which is this way quite distracting to me. I guess you couldn't help the white circle under the models hand, my camera also makes such things sometimes.

This is an excellent composition. The use of grain is refreshing and sets this image apart from most of the others. The refection of the inside of the pan in the lid is fantastic. You are to be commended for this

Great composition; just wish it wasn't so noisy.

Good use of the lid to show the chili inside. The tone of the shot along with the grain is a nice effect also.

This photo is close to being really good.
There are a couple of things that could be improved.
The graininess is really going to hurt your score this time. There is a program called neat image that should help some.
the reflection on the top of the lid is distracting. The food in the pot is not visually appealing. It took me a while to figure out what was going on there. Perhaps a creamy white soup with some green parsley or carrots or something with a bit more color if you where intending for the food to be seen.
The wine bottle in the back is reflecting a lot of light. I understand the intention of it being there but, it is so much brighter than the rest of the photo, it pulls the eye away from the main subject.
Over all the lighting is good, skin tones are good. If it were not so grainy I believe the focus would be good as well.

Like it, and the grainyness works well. The light spot under the hand is a little distracting, but nothing you could do within challenge rules to remove it.
