I followed Heida's tutorial on Post Processing and Brad's tutorial on model makeovers :)

I hope all that is legal :)

OH, and I applied a gradient on the sky in violet to bring out the clouds and on the grass in gold to bring up the colour there.

As an afterthought, I went in and dodged more light onto her face (it was looking a tad dark) and saturated her dress juuuuust a bit more and added a border top and bottom. And again, I went in and added light to her face with a layer filled with white in soft light mode and erased everything but her head :)... jeeze I hope I didn't overdo it :P

The sky was perfect for this today :)

Color on bland bg was inspired by this shot:

Very nice job on this portrait.....the low angle is great makes you feel a connection with the kid. The lighting on the subject is good as well as the exp on the background and sky. The bland background with the colorful clothes on the subject works well.

Oh wow! How have I missed this! What an AMAZING photo! There's something so compelling about the beautiful rich dramatic processing contrasted with that precious, ultra soft feminine little girl! Congratulations not only on doing so well in the challenge -- but for getting a timeless photo that will never grow old! She'll be showing HER children this photo!

How, oh how, did I miss this? What this is is an example of not only an outstanding image, but how you took various things you learned from this site and put them to use and it paid off. Congrats on top ten, Johnna!

Now go out and buy some more of that fabric so you can make her a prom dress when she gets older - I just know she would love it!! :)

Love the contrast of the colorful little dress and the brown, rough countryside. Also love the angle of the shot -- looking up at the toddler. 10

This has such a surreal feel to it.. I love the blast of colour from the dress against the background.. the framing and angle are perfect as well. Certainly in my top picks for the challenge ;) good luck

wow, almost scary, maybe if the face was a little brighter, or the baby wasn't so tall! cool contrasts abound here - not your father's portrait to be sure. 7

This is such an interesting photograph, especially the contrast of the colorful child against the gloomy backdrop. The expression on the face is quite different as well; I'm not sure I know the intent of the subject, but I think this plays to the overall image very nicely. I feel like the crop could've been just a little stronger with a bit more information at the bottom of the frame, but that's about my only nit-pick. The focus is sharp and the personality is great. Good job.

I wrote a poem once about God as a 4-yr-old child. It's a rich theme. 9

Very interesing shot - neat sky! The colors are awesome - the bleak drab browns, and then the bright splash of the girl's dress... Very cool!

I like the contrast between the dreary background and the bright, colorful dress.

oh yes she does command, FANTASTIC child portrait, she will probably love this when she gets older, what a fantastic sky and angle to make her look like she is commanding the storm, nice placement of her head in the round light spot in the clouds, saturation here makes her pop out but not so much as to make her look unnatural...wow...yeah I don't think there is anything about this picture I dont like

Perfect title. From this one thought all the storms of childhood. Your composition captures the fury of nature and the almost unreadable expression in the face of this lovely child. Well done!

Excellent perspective. Great colors against the neutral and dark shades of the ground and sky. I usually don't like photos of kids, but this is a great shot.
