Obviously, I kept it all color. I gaussian blurred the background and changed the color of the shirt on the little girl in the background. She was also wearing a pink shirt.
As much as I really liked what I did for the Free Study, I like this a WHOLE LOT better.
I'm going to enter this one in this year's county & state fairs in the 'People - Candid' category. Unless I somehow shoot somethng better. I don't think that I will.
I bet the kid in the background is sure glad he listened to his parents and is holding their hand. He's probably thinking, "Damn, they were right. I will get arrested if I let go!"
I love everything about this photo, and I too prefer it over the B&W. By blurring the background, and changing the color of the girl in the background, you kept the focus on the girl and the cop. You really do need to forward a copy to the NYPD, I am sure they can get a copy to the squad and the officer in the photo.
This is an amazing photograph - to capture something like this with such clarity is admirable. I definitely like the all-color version the best. The blue of the officer's uniform really works with the emerald green above it, then accented subtly by the sliver of yellow.
