An empty bottle of perfume, the small hose inside of the bottle was removed because it looks better without.

A frosted glass table with semi-transparent oven paper on top of the glass and moving upwards at the back, over a white wall, to create a seamless view.

Autumn leaves sprayed with gold paint.

A ordinary table light underneath (IKEA) creates the yellow glow and the light area at the back.

A small torchlight from the right shining on the leaves in front, shielded by a white piece of paper (flag) so the light does not hit the bottle and does not cause reflections.

Another small torchlight shining on a piece of crumpled goldpaper, which is moved to the left to create the illusion of a scent coming out of the bottle.

Unfortunately my best shot of the scent (this one) did not include the full bottle. So I decided to crop a bit further.

Image had levels and curves applied, then resized, 1 pixel black border, and then saved for the web.

Lovely shot..... not sure what you have done with the yellow streaks of light but it looks good and adds a sense of movement and flow to the image.

Please be the winner! I love it a lot.:) there is just a tiny little thing that you could fix in PS. The word De in L'or DE torrente is little fogy . (10)

Not sure how you did this but it is a gorgeous photo.
11/29/2003 07:23:05 PM
10+. What else can be said about this beautiful photo!?
11/29/2003 06:31:58 PM
I really like this shot. The yellow-gold color is warm and gives this image of french perfume (or french named at least) a nice feeling. I like the gold leaves for added detail. I'm not sure what that is in the upper left (I see this has been validated). It sort of looks cool but I keep dwelling on it because I can't figure out what it is or why it's there - it's really distracting me because of that. It was obviously added for a reason and I'll try to remember to check back after the contest to see exactly what you did! Nice job on this. I gave this a 9.

Love the yellow/gold/orange colors. Light is great. DOF is good. Image is sharp. I like the way you created the illusion of smell. 7
11/28/2003 02:16:13 PM
I like how you created the scent waves with light, good idea
11/28/2003 06:32:06 AM
Wow. Great work here. You'll get to explain how you've done that.
11/27/2003 08:05:06 PM
It's beautiful.
Trying to get an idea of how it was done. Lit from below and behind with flashes and a flashlight for the traces? How did you get an exposure long enough for the traces to be done? Slow shutter and the flash was delayed?
11/27/2003 03:37:04 PM
Love the colours & composition
Looks very professional
11/27/2003 01:51:54 PM
Great commercial! Worthy of Elle.
11/27/2003 09:00:58 AM
Oooh is this a double exposure? With one exposure capturing the bottle and leaves and the other adding moving lights infront of a dark background? However you've done it it's quite quirky!
11/27/2003 01:34:52 AM
DOF a bit of a problem but otherwise a fine image
11/26/2003 06:21:33 PM
great image, I want to know how you did the smoke effect
11/26/2003 03:54:33 PM
Great composition with those leaves that come back in the bottle and the waves of scent. Wonderful colors and excellent job on the edgeless background.

I wonder how you got the waves like that, it lookes like streaks of light in a multiple exposure or something like that. Or did you add it by hand during a long exposure? I should comment a lot more, this kind of wondering sparkles a lot of new ideas. :)
11/26/2003 03:47:55 PM
intriguing effect on the upper left. Works well as a scent, the gold color goes well with the name of the parfume. The leaves at the bottom reflect the leaves on the bottle. Perhaps it is a bit busy, my eye wanders not knowing what to focus on. Maybe less leaves?

Good idea - well executed! ;) M.

I don't know how you got the gold fumes wafting away from the bottle, but great job. One of the better perfume bottle shots.
11/26/2003 02:24:45 PM
Nice! Looks like an advertisement. No real complaints. =)
11/26/2003 01:35:19 PM
Looks like an advertising shot! High praise. The light trick is great, the background and lighting are perfect, and the color is gorgeous. Nice job.

Looks like an advertising shot, (which is a compliment, BTW!); everything about it is stunning. Very visually appealing, and I have nothing to offer you but praise. Quite lovely.
11/26/2003 02:36:52 AM
This definitely has the WOW factor! Sensational, has to be in the running for a ribbon. No idea how you did the effect top left but it is great.
11/26/2003 01:52:59 AM
Very good.
11/26/2003 01:41:57 AM

11/26/2003 12:15:50 AM
Super. Love the lighting here and the clean focus on the bottle. Nice going. I hope you do well in the challenge.
