One pencil's jealousy over the important job a pen has! I know... a bit bizarre and corny, but I couldn't help trying to personify the pencil and pen! :-)
"John Hancock" 'signature'made and printed from Ulead Photo Express. Post processing with Photoshop LE 5.0 for auto levels, color balance, tweeked contrast/brightness and cropped to size. EV +1.0.
Had redone this set up at the last minute and got it resubmitted just in time...!
Still don't like the slight red hue... but no more time. It is what it is!
:-)
Thanks! I had fun being silly with this.

What's going on here? I cant figure out how you got the two shadows with the blue intersection. Did you move the color space around in PS? Unfortunately, the pencil isn't focused, or rather was moving during the exposure. Maybe this is what you wanted, but that part doesn't work for me...

Funny shot and title!
I like the way you make the pencil stand out, and the splatter indicating `contact`!!!
The focus in front offset by the blurr in back. Well done!

Great idea. They seem to be fighting. I didn't notice the pen in the thumbnail version of this photo. Was this a shutter speed trick? I wonder why it left the blue in the pen in only that one spot. Oh well, it doesn't matter, it's still a cool photo. I like the angle and the lighting is great. Gets a little bright up towards the top, but I think that just draws your eyes back down to the subject, so it works. Great job and good luck in the challenge.

This is a great idea and a great shot. I really like the inventiveness of the composition; it looks great and it really does create a sense of conflict between pen and envious pencil… (10)

Duel of the writing insterments?

Different idea. I like the colors and shadow of the pen. The ink on the pencil is a bit distracting.

Wish I could do this - someday hopefully. GREAT work - definately took time and effort. I very much like the composition and angle as well as exposure. I like it - 10

Like the movement and the composition, with it's clever use of white space and the subtle shadows.

excellent photo, beutifull color, original idea, and great DOF, overall very nicely done

Subtle humor here and I like what you did with the pen. The only thing that bothers me a little is the vast expanse of white negative space in the top left area. 6 Journey
