well, they've finally knocked down the house next door. it's strange, i had a dream about it yesterday morning, that i should really go inside and do a photo essay before they knocked it down. i heard this large noise during breakfast, went out to see, and it was already half gone.

Great b/w! You've captured a moment that is sad indeed. Somewhere there are paople with memories of that house, probably good ones. And now it's gone. Great photo.

Missed opportunities are sad enough, it's sadder yet when it's this kind. Destruction of a building always makes me melancholy, it just seems so wasteful. Your shot is wonderful, I love how clear and contrasty the sky and ground are (with the snow, that's a tough one, but you handled it well), while the house is clouded just a tiny bit by dust. Well done.

Your beautiful photo of before the house was torn down makes Ruin even more tragic. I'm a Nova Scotian living on the West Coast. Houses like that are part of my treasured memories.

This is a very high drama moment you have captured. I hope that the hill will at least stay cow pasture now, instead of being wall to wall condos like they are building in this area now.
A big trac-hoe like that is the tool of choice for this type of destruction. They are like the offspring of "Godzilla" of movie fame when it comes to wrecking things large or small.
The guy in the edge of the pic adds a lot to the human connection in the image.

Awwww, that is sad. I wonder what history they just brought down in a moment. Why did they tear it down? What an amazing photo!

Aww, how incredibly sad! The sky and snow really add an element of "from dust to dust" in a way, too.
