I like the deep black on the righthand side of the image and I see your attempt to place the dime on a thirds intersection but somehow the continuous vertical darkness seems to offbalance the image a little. Perhaps a crop with about half as much darkness on the righthand side or a crop that kept more of the model's arm in the frame would yield a presentation that "feels" more balanced to me. I'm not saying you failed at hitting your thirds intersection, just that somehow the intensity of the darkness gives me a feeling of a lack of balance. Overall, this is a creative take on the subject and I continue to love the use of the posed models. 8

Here is a case of an excellent photo that is put into a challenge with a title hoping to make it fit. As far as this shot technically, it's near perfect... however, I have a hard time giving a score without taking into concideration that we are trying to meet a challenge subject here. If you followed the thread I posted in on the forums, my opinion is quite clear there. 7 -danny

This is a nice artistic shot with a subtle message. I would hope you are pointing out how money rules the world & messed up that is but that's just my take on the shot. Great composition & sharp focus on the focal point.

...if you look at "the world is yours" economically speaking. Would have used quarter. =) Nice photo, good propaganda!

okay, i'm getting a little confused here.. how many people are going to use these wooden guys???
11/21/2003 01:55:25 AM
Liberty for all!

excellent shot, use of colours is great (or no colours or whatever)... maybe the little wooden man in the background could do with a bit more light? only MHO, but the shot is excellent.

I'm not quiet clear on the message being conveyed. Is it that Liberty is there for the taking? Or that the concept of Liberty in the US is wooden? I'm just not sure I'm getting the right idea. That said I like the image, the dark shadows of the model and the bright light on the coin against that darkness. Low DOF is well used. I'd like a touch more space at the bottom so that the space between coin and lower edge of frame is same as space between coin and right edge of frame.

These figures have been overused lately. Too me, they lack a creative aspect. You can just sit around and manipulate a toy for each challenge.

what is with these little men? Nice lighting, but had to be spot editing to have the peny color and rest b/w?
