This wasn't quite what I was going for, but didn't have time for a reshoot. So out of the pictures I had taken this one was the best. It was a fairly fun shoot, put the camera on timer run and jump on my best friends back and fake strangle her, we had lots of fun with the facial expressions, and make up. You can't really see it in this shot but I had a black eye and my friend had a bleeding lip and nose.

I just used flourecent lighting, and in editing I clarified, adjusted saturation, edge preserving, and sharpened, then saved for web.

I'm not expecting much of this shot

interesting. lots of hair in this shot. looks like the girl strangling is getting some sort of satisfaction out of this. i think lighting has let you down on this shot.

expresison on the girl in the background looks playful. photo itself is sort of uninteresting and the tones are muddy.

could stand to have a bump in contrast

Seems to lack overall contrast, a bit more white may have brought out more detail in the darker areas. Looks like she has a good hold!

It's the most awful spectacle when women fight, but oddly enough, we express hatred and venom more vividly than men. Maybe that's why it's so awful? Technically, the problems I see here are the intrusive flash used (re the glare off skin, teeth and tongue) and the b&w conversion has the tones looking a little pastey/grey.

This image looks very flat, like you simply desaturated to convert to B&W. I'm sure you could have created a much more contrasty and dramatic image using channel mixer (in CS2) or even something as simple as "filtered BW" in Picasa.

This is a little scary. Meets the challenge, and meets it well. However, I'm seeing a snapshot with a black and white conversion. Not being able to see either of their eyes and the dull overtones of this image will keep it out of the higher ranks.

that really dark lipstick is very distracting ...
