Challenge: Street Photography (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM for Nikon
Location: Flinders Street, Melbourne Australia

Aperture: F6.3
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/160
Galleries: Candid, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Feb 18, 2007

Took this candid at the Flinders Street Station in the mornig as people went to work. I just kept crossing the road and weaving in the direction of the oncoming rush of people. I ended up with some interesting shots. This one had the look of a race and who was going to get to the other side first. Used an ultra wide 10mm lens to get the wide distortion which I like.

Basic editing including duotone, dodge and burn and sharpen, nothing major here.

I reckon it will either do well around 6.2 or really drastically around 5.5...hoping for around 6

POST: Well this was beyond my expectation, so thanks everyone for the great comments and votes. I loved this challenge...

I'm perusing and critiquing archive DPC street photography challenges to learn more about composition. Please email me responses to my comment if you like.

Classic street image but you captured the energy of the humans as well as the energy of the architecture.

Wondering why the sky is so dark at the top of the photo.

Nice dynamic shot. Too many in this challenge have 'extras' cluttering the background. All these people make the shot in this case.

Wonderful almost distorted sense of it. Love the movement. Makes me think of an older time with the sepia duotone. GOOD stuff.

Good POV and great execution, like the tines here. Though you could have improved this dramatically by cloning out the overhead wire mesh as that is a major distraction from the otherwise excellent image

personally, I don't care for the fact that the folks on the left are more distorted than the folks on the right ... gives the image a lopsided feel to it ...
