This is our new very state of the art culinary school built in a restored warehouse at the old historic Pearl Brewery. We are so proud of it! It is getting off the ground by being backed by the Culinary Institute of America, which is bar none, the top culinary school in America, maybe the world. This is one of the master chefs working on something in one of the classes. My job is to go out there every week and take photos of the students in every phase of their education. Then at graduation, they do a slide show with music and all the photos. It makes me feel good that when the slide show is playing, I look around and see some of them with tears streaming down their face as they remember the cameraderie, work and fun of their experience. Then each student is given a DVD of the slide show :) It is such a fun part of my job! I'm so amazed at the detail and stress that goes into becoming a world-class chef!

The whole wall of their kitchen is windows, and what you see out the window is our Pearl Stable (it used to really be a stable that housed the horses that transported beer in the 1800's). Now, it's San Antonio's hottest event facility! I'll show you better shots of the Stable on another day :)

How cool it is that you get to be paid for what you love to do. Do you get to eat the meals too?

Great action shot! Lucky you to have the opportunity to share your work with the "models" to very positive response. :) Thanks for the writeup, too; I love learning about people's worlds as much as looking at them!

I am having flashbacks of my life previous. 17 years of kitchen life took a long time to leave the forefront of my brain. Nice captures here. I would love to be able to go back into the kitchens I worked in just to take pictures. Just out of curiosity - what is the Master Chefs name? I have worked with a couple of them in the past. Great work Sandy!

Sandy - these are so cool and thank you for the extra photos! I like the perspectives you chose. I found this very interesting because in an alternate reality, I think I went to a culinary institute and became a chef! But in this reality, I just make a heck of a goulash ;-) They must really appreciate these quality shots from you. P.S. your exposure and balance - wow - you made it look easy.
