 Canton, NC from the "other side" of town.

so I had taken a shot very similar to this a year or so back, and thought it would be a neat shot for this project. I got a little more than i bargained for. :)

Oh yea, a couple of days ago (maybe three) I mentioned that because of the direction of smoke it was going to snow. It snowed for about an hour this morning. :)

this shot is looking down on the south side of Canton. A couple of churches are visible, and some of the older buildings. Blue Ridge Paper is just out of the frame on the right.

What I did NOT realize, though was one of the details that I captured in the moutains in the background. When I opened it up, I realized I had actually photographed my "neighborhood." If you look along the top of the frame, about two thirds across from the left, you will see a red "X." It is sitting on top of my house.

Another bit of trivia -- the mountain on the far right is Cold Mountain of novel and movie fame.

OMG! So, I opened this image, was distracted by something in the background, and tried to wipe the bit of red fuzz off the monitor!!! Too funny, as I have on a red shirt today :)

This gives us a pretty nice insight of your locale, and you've added a LOT of interest with the Cold Mountain referral!

It looks so nice and quaint. Living in the suburbs I miss the quiet town life that places like this offer.

I can easily see why you enjoy living in this town. It looks like my concept of what "Mt Pilot" must have looked like in the "Andy Griffith" television series.
In your image it certainly looks like a little slice of small town America, with all the details, the two lane main st, the churches, even the flag in the foreground. I am glad that you got a haze free day to get this.

How Cool!!!! I love this photo! The town looks so charming! And it's neat to see your house nestled right there in it :) I loved that movie Cold Mountain so much, and I thought then that North Carolina was so beautiful!

Great composition to show how pretty this town is!

Looks like a peaceful, quiet, established place to live where you know everyone at church and the grocery store, and if you leave your keys in the car in the driveway, it's still there in the morning. Movie people excepted, of course! Pretty shot.....

You captured what I love about NC and the whole area. All the towns that are in small valley areas. It looks like a really good place to call home.
