 composite of a number of closeups of an old, beat-up violin. Shot RAW+JPG, put together in PSCS3 by stacking images and selecting areas to delete in layers to have lower layers show through. Each image was adjusted for levels first.

After it was together, cropped, added border, adjusted colours slightly, resized, sharpened, saved for web.

This is the best of the challenge IMO. I give it the gold ribbon. The textures, colors, curves, spirals and dots all put together in a masterfully artistic creation. This is why Expert Editing rules should stay.

this is like a tribute to Cubism. Some of the first movements toward Abstract Art, including Cubism, utilized the sensuous shapes of violins and other string instruments, probably for the musical connotations as much as the visual beauty. I find it thrilling to see you do the same thing via the purely representational medium of photography. 10

Wow! What's not to like on this one? Interesting subject matter, technically solid camera and PP work, and a very tasteful and imaginative use of the ruleset. Geometrically speaking, the composition has an almost musical quality to it, irregardless of the subject matter. Job well done.

This's really an interesting perspective.....I'd love to hear the story with this shot after the challenge. Love the DOF and the complex composition that manages somehow not to be too busy. Well done.
