This shot was alot of fun in somewhat of a creepy way. Okay, so its 10PM and I'm feeling a little restless at home so what do I do? I go for a drive out to the mountains in search of a cool night shot. I know of a place where a mountain stream flows under a highway through a large culvert. There we go, pitch black, in the midst of bear, cougar and wolf country with no soul within 10 miles. Sorta stupid doing this by myself? Yeah, but nobody said I was smart and I had this wonderful frozen studio all to myself for two hours. Turn off the light and you would be hard pressed to see your hand in front of your face.

The editing of this shot met the challenge requirements though the noise dictated a slightly heavier use of NeatImage than I normally use. Oh well, I think it sorta cool anyhow. Hope it does well.

an amazing photograph especially after i read your comments ..
i'm wondering if that's a very large rat at the far end of the tunnel or possibly one of those cougars or bears you were talking about ..
a wonderful result from a spur of the moment whim .. excellent . :)

Thanks to all who voted and took the time to comment on this challenge. This is my third ribbon and with that, I now have enough virtual ribbon material to knit some virtual mittens. ;-)

This culvert shot would be really cool if the water was smooth and reflective. You would then have the concentric arches reflected in the water too.
It is an entrance, but not a very inviting one. There is nothing here to show scale, unless that is a very tiny human at the far end, but I am familiar with steel work, so I assume the plates are about 4 ft X 10 ft each. People with no knowlege of steel would not have any idea about how big this pipe is. If that is a person at the end, it is too small in the image to make it out at web size.
