This would have been a great subject for the "something old" challenge!
This is a very good idea and like the small drawing, but the backboard is very distracting and takes up too much room in the pic. I think with a more creative way to hold the drawing, this would have been a contender... Nice focus!

Nice photo! I have always enjoyed seeing art and photo together like this. For a minute, I couldn't find the pencil, silly me. I still don't understand the title. ( No reflection on your score.) Great focus/lighting/framing/composition! 8 Swash

Beautiful. Took me a minute or two to find the pencil though. Hope that doesn't hurt you. You would think the shadow would make it obvious. Great work. karmat

I see the pencil but, it's just a little too contrived for me. Great subject for photography. Would fit a different challenge better in my opinion. syamjonimi

Really really cool. I hope you let on as to how you did this when voting's over. I think I may know how the other "floating pencils" were done, but this one puzzles me. It is very visually appealing. Lighting and angle are good. don't think there is much more I can say about this. Nothing really distracting. I think the shadow from the pencil kind of makes my eyes go off the page, but I don't think it would be the same without the shadow. I think it's important. Great photo and good luck with the challenge.

I really like the idea on this photo. Perhaps having all of the colored pencils used would have given a little more color to the photo. The contrast of the green bush and blue sky is nice.

someone has a lot of artistic talent. I would have preffered the pencil be more prominant for the challenge but the photo is wonderful. 7

Love the old boat and the picture, but feel the pencil has just been stuck in there. If it weren't for the challenge, the photo would be better without the pencil I think. Nice colour to the sky.

I would have been interested more in the effect of that great shadow on the picture that is on the easel rather than the real boat...

i know you are going to get negative comments on this one but it does have a pencil and a pencil is a boring subject but all it needs is antlers

It took a while to find the pencil. I want a blowup of the pencil drawing, looks like a good job. The shadow is huge and just what is needed to draw attention to the modest subject. - 8

I like the idea, and I like the picture. The pencil, though, seems to actually distract from the picture, since it doesn't make sense floating there. The long shadow of the pencil might also be considered distracting.

I think you are going to far from the challence in this one. Okey there is a pencil but but it is so small thing in this great picture. I would go out and take this one again without the pencil and the picture . Do that and put it in your gallery folder on the internet if you have one. -rocco22-

I would like this photo without the easel or the drawing or the pencil. Sure that would make it useless for this challenge, but it would be a better photograph, and a solid one. MHO.
