 Interesting topic. I wish I had had more time to spend on it. Tried several different things with match books and wooden matches. I liked the detail the best in this so there you have it. Lit with four clamp lamps each with a 100w halogen bulb. Preset white balance. Camera on tripod with manual remote.

Post: Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Layer of curves adjustment. Crop. Removed sensor dust spots. Sharpen. Resize. Sharpen.

Thanks for the comments during and after the challenge. I did not see the fiber sticking up on top of the match until later and I could not edit. But when I did, after the challenge, it appeared to me to as part of the match as the other fibers on the lower part.

I submitted this to Megapixel.net on line magazine for their Macro Close Up Gallery It made the cover for the Gallery this week! So did my Hometown picture for the same site.I posted the ling in the photo comments below. Cool. Later.

Some pretty fine details here. Amazing what things look like up close sometimes. :D This is certainly interesting to look at. Too bad about that straggling hair up top. :) Good luck in the challenge.

My top pick of the straight forward match shots. Great macro. Nice and clean, sharp detail and I must say that I dont think it would hav elooked as nice had the match heads been red. Great work. 8 for now.
